  San Francisco

San Francisco, better known as "the gay and lesbian capital of the world" is also widely considered one of the most amazing cities not only in the U.S. but the world. Once you visit you are sure to leave thinking San Francisco is a gay travel Mecca. When most people think of "gay travel" San Francisco is one of the first places thought of. With some of the most amazing architecture, beautiful scenery and diverse group of people you could ever find, who could blame anyone for wanting to visit here as much as possible.  The "City by the Bay" has consistently been voted the No. 1 U.S. Travel Destination (in the Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards poll) for over 15 consecutive years.

You can find world class shopping and amazing restaurants and more museums than you could visit in a weekend. If performance art is more your thing you can find amazing plays, musicals and dance shows all over the city. And to think all of this and no need to have a car, you can walk, use the MUNI or even get around the entire Bay Area by using the BART train.

Within the city you will find the Castro District, when you think of gay travel destinations, The Castro is a must visit. In the Castro you will find some of the "hottest" bars, restaurants that will amaze you or provide you with a bit of "hometown" comfort.  If you like most gay travelers and love to shop you'll find some of the cutest and quirkiest stores. If you want to stay in the Castro or very close to it there are some great B&B's in the area that are full of charm and history.  While you're in this area you have to be sure to visit Twin Peaks. Only a few minutes from the Castro you will enjoy one of the most amazing views the city has to offer, and who knows maybe the beauty of it all will inspire you to keep coming back for more.

Once you have visited the Castro you must check out everything else San Francisco has to offer. All within the city you will find a number of the most unique and diverse neighborhoods. Market District, SOMA, Union Square, Haight District, Sunset District, Chinatown, Financial District, Fisherman 's Warf, the Presidio.

If you are in the area long enough to venture outside the city you will find some of the best locations around. If you love a good thrill or are looking for a great gay and lesbian family destination you can head north to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo and/or south to Great America in Santa Clara. If water thrills are more your thing you can head south to Raging Waters in San Jose or east to Water World USA in Concord, the later of the two hosts an annual "Gay and Lesbian "day every year. This event is a favorite of locals and gay travelers alike.

If relaxation is more your thing you can spend a day or two, or much longer is you like, in the Napa wine country. There you will find some of the world's finest spas and restaurants. And if you are going to stay, you will find world class accommodations all over the Napa Valley.
